WWE Brock Lesnar to Blame for Low Ratings, Slammy Awards Didn’t Help? [RUMORS]

Since its creation the (now) WWE has been pumping up wrestling fans of all generations. Recently, however, ratings have been dropping, plain and simple. Even the highly successful Slammy Awards didn't improve things as expected. Also, reports from earlier in the year suggest that Brock Lesnar's absence could be to blame for the drop.

The WWE is a easily the most popular wrestling company in the world. Throughout its history, the innovations, unique characters and high flying acrobatics have set the bar for competitors.

There are about 320 performances a year, both televised and non-televised. The organization is broadcasted in over 150 countries, and there are roughly 40 million regular viewers.

Sadly, the second half of 2014 has shown a steady decline in ratings and revenue. In October of this year, the Inquisitr reported that the current champ, Brock Lesnar, could be to blame:

"In the WWE, Brock Lesnar is said to be good for business, if you go by the theory proposed by Vince McMahon...then why is he not doing regular matches? A black hole must have formed somewhere in the WWE Universe, since something is sucking away viewers from Monday Night RAW...[Brock] will be a continual no-show for the rest of 2014, [some suggest] he will not return until Royal Rumble 2015. Also Vince McMahon is holding back Brock...due to his high per-show cost..."

Those of us who have stuck around to December still haven't seen things pick up. According to Cage Side Seats, the Slammy Awards didn't help like everyone thought:

"Usually, The Slammy Awards, if nothing else, can be counted on to help pop a rating for the episode of Monday Night Raw they're hosted on. That did not happen for this year's show, which took place last night in Greenville, South Carolina and also acted as the go home edition to the TLC pay-per-view (PPV) this coming Sunday night in Cleveland. Raw averaged 3.69 million viewers, down 3.88 million last week and way down from the 4.29 million the week before."

What do you think? Should we see some more Lesnar regardless of cost? Why didn't the Slammy Awards perform as expected? What will the WWE due for fans now? Let us know in the comment section below.
