J.T. Barrett's year has been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. Early this season, his on-the-field performance was sharp, some would even say Heisman Trophy sharp. However, the Ohio State star was ripped away from that dream when he broke his ankle against Michigan. Also, recent news alleges Barrett pushed -- and possibly even choked -- his pregnant ex-girlfriend.
At the beginning of this season, Barrett was expected to play backup Q.B. for Braxton Miller. However, he ended up starting when Miller was forced to miss the season due to injury.
For a while, it seemed as though fate demanded Barrett to play. He broke several OSU records and was considered by some as a Heisman Trophy candidate.
However, the veil was ripped when the Buckeye went down. NBC Sports reported on the incident shortly after it happened:
"On the first play of the fourth quarter of OSU's game against Michigan, starting quarterback and Heisman contender J.T. Barrett went down with what appeared to be a very significant injury to his lower right leg. Barrett was bent over backwards by a Wolverine defender and his leg became pinned. After having an air cast applied to his leg, Barrett was taken off the field on a cart for further evaluation."
We now know that his ankle is broken.
Also, recent reports suggest that the injured player isn't taking things well. According to TMZ Sports, cops responded to a 911 call involving Barrett and suspected domestic abuse:
"J.T. Barrett had an, 'alleged fight with his pregnant ex-girlfriend' she claimed he choked her and threw her across a room. Barrett...told police Alexandra Barrett-Clark refused to leave his apartment. He claims she ran at him and he merely pushed her away in self-defense. Alexandra's version is that Barrett 'choked her on the bed,' using his forearm to apply pressure to her neck. She says she managed to get away and call police."
