Blake Griffin of the Los Angles Clippers may not be the most liked player in the league, but he is one of the most effective. Reports earlier this year outline several altercations Griffin was involved in. These might have happened because Blake has made himself a target by playing so well. If so, Blake better watch his back, as Griffin and the Clippers are at it again with even more impressive stats.
Blake played college ball for the University of Oklahoma. During his sophomore year, he was named Consensus National Player of the Year.
He left after only two seasons to join the 2009 NBA draft and was the first overall pick by the Clippers. He has been with them ever since. Though, that has come with a price.
Griffen broke his kneecap and missed all of the 2009-10 season. This proved to be the first of many obstacles Griffin has had, and will have to overcome as a professional basketball player.
The Big Lead points out that Griffin has been target for many reason, but mainly because he plays so well:
"This season alone, Blake Griffin has gotten into physical altercations with the Warriors, Thunder, Grizzlies and now the Suns...Blake scored 37 last nights on 14-16 shooting. He made 9 of 10 free throws and he's shooting a career-high .698 from the line this season. And the Clippers are winning. 8 straight to be exact and they're currently the 4-seed in a tight playoff picture."
With or without altercations, it looks like the Clippers aren't letting up.
Instead, according to Bleacher Report, Blake and his squad are more efficient than ever:
"The Clippers' pick-and-roll featuring [Griffin] Paul and a steady dose of DeAndre Jordan has become one of the most unguardable plays in the NBA. [Previously] Paul and Griffin averaged 1.11 team points per possession on pick-and-roll ranking fifth in the league."
