WWE superstar CM Punk is one of the most popular professional wrestlers to date. He has the sixth-longest record for consecutive days holding a championship belt. He has won eleven overall titles during his career, which include "WWE's World Heavy Weight Championship" (on three separate occasions), and he is also the only person to win two "Money In The Bank Ladder Matches". Unfortunately, CM Punk parted ways with the WWE in January of 2014. There has been a lot of controversy as to why the superstar parted from the organization. Early on, it was reported Punk got "pissed" and quit. Now, he speaks out against the policies of the company who apparently fired him.
Punk's fans were shocked when they learned "the greatest in the world" was getting out. TMZ initially reported that Punk was upset at the way the company wanted to use him:
"Punk was livid when he learned officials scripted Batista to win the Royal Rumble...because he feels Batista isn't in great wrestling shape and shouldn't be featured in the title match at the upcoming WrestleMania (the biggest event of the year)...Punk feels he earned the right to be in the main event at WrestleMania -- because he's been wrestling tirelessly over the past year from house shows to overseas events."
It was also established that Punk was firm on his decision and didn't have any intentions of returning to the company. Over the last year, there have been some rumors suggesting he would return. However, based on the Thanksgiving speech he just made, that isn't going to be happening, as Cage Side Seats tells readers:
"The timing of Punk's intervention on Thanksgiving Eve certainly seemed designed to catch WWE flat footed, as his revelations came on the night before America's biggest public holiday. But who can blame him when WWE, either maliciously or incompetently, timed his firing to occur on his wedding day to current WWE performer AJ Lee?"
