On Thursday, it became clear that everyone's favorite Celtic Warrior, Sheamus, would not be participating in the WWE's much anticipated and highly electrifying Survivor Series. The Brute towers over his opponents at a respectable 6 ft. 4 in. However, this was not the case in his main event match with The Big Show on Raw. Fans were surely devastated as they watched and learned of the seemingly serious jaw injury that was inflected on the Irishman. One can only speculate what this means to his career as an athlete.
This most recent affliction looks to be more serious than the injury he received back in August, which was a torn labrum in his shoulder that was supposed to have him sidelined for six months. WWE.com updated us on Sheamus' current condition and footing in the Survivor Series:
"During WWE Main Event on WWE Network, Michael Cole provided an update from Dr. Amann on Sheamus' condition. The Celtic Warrior suffered a left cervical neurapraxia (stinger in arm), bone spurring, narrowing of the spinal canal (spinal stenosis) and narrowing of the nerve canals (neuroforaminal) along with nerve compression in his neck. Sheamus will not be able to compete this Sunday at Survivor Series."
This news is unsettling and seems to be terrible. However, this situation does not necessarily harm Sheamus' career. Instead, as Bleacher Report points out, this break could be a new beginning:
"As we saw with Ryback, time away can allow a wrestler to recapture momentum. The Big Guy faded from the spotlight as he recovered from various surgeries. He returned on a much higher rung on the WWE ladder, moving up from low-card limbo to center stage. Sheamus time away is an ideal opportunity to inject darkness into his character and to have him kick-start his career much like Ryback has."
What do you think? Is Sheamus out for the count? Or, is this a chance for a new beginning? Let us know in the comment section below.
