ABC's View facelift really hasn't helped the TV show's rating in the long term, and rumor has it the producers are getting desperate. According to the latest gossip news updates, Rosie O'Donnell ongoing feud with co-host Whoopi Goldberg has the network execs thinking they should host another nationwide search for a new cast member in order to boost audience participation and turnout.
Ever since former day time talk show host Rosie O'Donnell returned to The View there have been reports that she is having problems getting along with the entire cast and crew -- but especially Whoopi Goldberg.
A production insider claimed in Life & Style's December 1 issue Rosie was starting to insist that she needs more air time to complete with Whoopi:
"Rosie's a loudmouthed bully.
"She recently blew up because Whoopi had 2minutes, 45 seconds more speaking time on the show...So she yelled at the producer.
"And she thinks that Whoopi talks too slowly to be the moderator...she and Whoopi aren't even speaking."
The informant claims that it's not just Whoopi that has a problem with the way Rosie carries herself -- it's everybody:
"Rosie's been the biggest prima donna.
"The staff hates [her] -- she berates everyone."
According to a source, who spoke to Radar Online, all the feuding has the producers thinking that maybe they could kill two birds with one stone -- finding a new co-host while at the same time boosting ratings:
"To boost ratings, there have been talks that The View will bring back its nationwide search for co-hosts.
"It could be really good for the show, because it would really get the audience more involved."
Apparently, the last time The View decided to resort to the ole nationwide talent search gimmick was fifteen years ago, when they eventually hired Lisa Ling.
Lisa Ling is probably best known for her abduction and temporary imprisonment by the government of North Korea...which isn't necessary a good sign for anyone thinking of joining in the selection process if it gets off the ground this go around.
