Last week NBC’s Chicago PD, teamed up with its Jesse Spencer lead parent series, Chicago Fire, and the long running hit Law & Order: SVU, delighting fans of all series. During last week’s episode, Law & Order fans fell in love with Chicago PD’s Hank Voight, played by former Scientologist Jason Beghe, who have been missing Detective Stabler’s bad cop routine.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of Chicago PD, titled “Assignment of the Year,” reads:
“A moneyed diamond dealer is killed on Antonio's watch. Halstead and Lindsay work the case, but they must go undercover in an uncomfortable location.”
During last week’s crossover with Law & Order: SVU, Sergeant’s Benson and Voight butted heads, but ultimately hit off, reminding viewers of the Benson’s relationship with her old partner, Elliot Stabler. Benson even made the comparison on the show.
Before the episode aired, Chicago Fire/PD executive producer,Matt Olmstead, spoke to The New York Post about the meeting:
“They both immediately recognize that the other person is a formidable personality/ They can stand up to each other without worrying that the other person’s going to get their feelings hurt or is gonna curl up in the fetal position.”
