Mike Holober Achieves a Rare 'Balancing Act' on New Palmetto Release [REVIEW]
Eric Bibb & JJ Milteau Make 'Lead Belly's Gold' Vital on New Stony Plain Release [REVIEW]
Eric Bibb comes from a long line of roots heroes like Taj Mahal and Keb Mo who are bound to keep American blues and folk alive for future generations. JJ Milteau is a French harmonica player. Together, with full band, they perform 11 live and five studio interpretations of the legendary Lead Belly [1888-1949], a giant of a man, born Huddie Ledbetter in Louisiana. The release is titled 'Lead Belly's Gold' and is released on Stony Plain. The Jane Getter Premonition is Definitely 'On' for New Madfish Release [REVIEW]
Is it jazz? Is it prog-rock? Is it fusion? The great thing about the Jane Getter Premonition's 'On' (Madfish) is that yes, it's all of the aforementioned...and more. In fact, I dare say that On is one of the most adventurous, complex, loveable, entertaining and profound pieces of music (for music's sake) I have had the pleasure of listening to all year. This release goes immediately into my lifetime collection of CDs (#1,241) to be heard annually (but that's an essay for another time).
