Andrew Lloyd Webber Talks ‘School of Rock’ Success

Although his work in musicals like 'Cats,' 'The Phantom of the Opera' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar' have made Andrew Lloyd Webber a household name for more the 4-decades, the famous Broadway composer had almost forgotten what it was like to have a hit. Since 'School of Rock: The Musical' made its Broadway debut, the show's success, has Webber every bit as shocked as finding diamond in the rough and breakout star, Alex Brightman, to play the lead. In fact, it would seem that Webber has had some difficulties finding a worthy Dewey Finn replacement for the West End run -- recently postponing the show's London debut until the spring of 2017.

    Unlike most modern musicals, Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's Bright Star contains entirely original songs and book work not based on any persisting book, movie or short story whatsoever. Although the legendary comedian admits that he drew inspiration from one of the track of his 2013 album with Brickell, Love Has Come for You; while promoting the show's upcoming Broadway run Martin explained that the real impetus to write Bright Star came from their shared love of musicals as an art form. It would seem that both Martin and Brickell have also found a new inspiration in their lead, Carmen Cusack, who the "What I Am" singer recently referred to as "our bright star".

  • Juilliard Grad Adam Driver New ‘SNL’ “Star Wars Force Awakens’ Kylo Ren Promos: Talks AITAF

    Adam Driver is on top of the world. The 'Girls' actor recently rose to mega star status thanks to his role as the villainous Kylo Ren in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens.' Driver is also hosting this weekend’s episode of SNL and has been featured with his signature lightsaber in the recently released promos. Driver is also a graduate of the famed Juilliard school, was also a member of the U.S. Marines. His experience in both worlds lead him to form , AITAF (Arts In The Armed Forces), a non profit organization that brings theater to the troops in order to help them reconnect with civilian life.
