Since 2004, Moogfest has been a brilliant showcase and festival that's only allowed musicians who worked closely with the late Dr. Robert Moog and his instruments to perform.
As of 2008, the gathering returned to Moog's headquarters in Asheville, N.C. And the premise was expanded to accommodate a wider array of artists, speakers and producers in a three-day, multi-stage format.
For over 50 years, Bob Moog's Moog Music had pioneered electronic musical instruments that carve out new sounds all their own.
This year, however, the festival has amplified to the extreme, featuring such funky titans as Giorgio Moroder and Nile Rodgers (performing with CHIC), the queen of the mantra M.I.A., Dillon Francis, Flying Lotus, Pet Shop Boys and more.
Speakers at the conference will include Moroder, Profesor Nick, David X Cohen, Laurie Anderson, Cliff Martinez and, again, many more.
Like the myriad Moog users know, this year's fest is sure to premiere some unique timbres, as well as the chance to witness and discuss the latest updates in the electro world.
The festival returns to Asheville, running from April 23 to 27. Tickets can be purchased via the festival's website.
A transcending experience in and of itself, here is audio from Richie Hawtin at Moogfest in 2012.
