UPDATE: Big Ears 2014 Announces Line-Up of Steve Reich, Body/Head, John Cale, Julia Holter, Jonny Greenwood, So Percussion...

The noisier side of music falls into place yet again at the Big Ears Festival for 2014, who announced the line-up earlier this week. Big Ears-goers are excited for the festival's continuing presence as a major destination point of Spring in the South.

The festival, since 2009, has brought together modern classical acts with experimental and noise-rock groups (like Brick Dozer's No. 1 of 2013, Body/Head) in venues across Knoxville, Tenn.

The updated line-up now includes minimalist icon Steve Reich, who acts as the artist-in-residence for the three-day festival along with Ensemble Signal, and two of our best here at Classicalite, Jonny Greenwood and Sō Percussion performing his music.

No word on if any will be among the 18 musicians needed for Reich's magnum opus.

Also on this newest bill are John Cale, Television, Earth, Steven O'Malley, Mazoranai and Marc Ribot, Julia Holter, Vatican Shadow and Classicalite's favorite son of Brooklyn, Oneohtrix Point Never.

After a three-year hiatus, the future of the festival was in question.

The organizers of the extravaganza are usually busy running Bonaroo but were able to, thankfully, pencil us listeners into their schedule.

Passes for the fest are already on sale on the festival's website. Passes start at $150.
