Legendary actress, singer, and dancer Vanessa Williams becomes the iconic Miranda Priestly in a video teaser for her stage production of 'The Devil Wears Prada,' kicking off the premiere of the new musical adaptation in London, England.
The production opens at the Theatre Royal Plymouth on Saturday, July 6, and will run through Saturday, Aug. 17, before opening in the West End on Sunday, Oct. 6.
The teaser posted on Instagram boldly says, "Miranda has arrived," as the singer and actress emerges from behind the stage. Williams looked gorgeous in a red sequin gown and matching duster jacket.
She stands still at first with a serious Miranda expression, but as she moves closer to the stage, she swiftly opens her coat to show off her full striking costume.
Williams plays Miranda Priestly, the strong editor-in-chief of the made-up fashion magazine Runway, who is most known for being portrayed by Meryl Streep in the film adaptation.
'The Devil Wears Prada' musical is based on the well-known 2003 book by Lauren Weisberger and the successful 2006 film, which took in $326.7 million worldwide on a $35-41 million budget and was nominated for two Academy Awards.
The production includes an original score by music legend and Olivier and Tony Award winner Elton John, lyrics by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub, and book by Kate Wetherhead with direction and choreography by three-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell.
The cast of 'The Devil Wears Prada' also stars Christian Rhys Whitfield as Andy's longtime boyfriend Nate, Olivier Award winner Matt Henry as Runway's Creative Fashion Director, Nigel, Amy Di Bartolomeo as the cold First Assistant to Miranda, Emily, Georgie Buckland, who is making her West End debut as the driven Andy, and James Darch as the cunning journalist.
