On Thursday, May 30, indie rock band MAITA released its new track 'i used to feel different' from the new album 'Want.' The album will be out on Friday, July 26, via Fluff & Gravy Records.

MAITA also dropped a music video for its single, 'i used to feel different.' It is described as a sunny song that yearns for the state of wonderment people feel during childhood.

"The upbeat song of the record, it explores the wistful desire to return to a state of wonderment we had when we were younger," Bandleader MAITA said. "For me, personally, I remember a time of creative abundance, freed from the need to work and think about money. Modern adult life can feel so constricting and regimented, and I romanticize the idea of a world of art, love, and ease."

'i used to feel different' follows the album's debut single, 'Girl at the bar,' a melancholic meditation on the yearning to be the object of lust. 'Want' provides an intelligent look at desire within a committed relationship with a stark, compelling vision of a place lost in time.

The album, recorded at Echo Echo in Portland, Oregon, is a dizzying mix of melancholy and indie rock set against the dreamy backdrop of a dive bar. With many highs and lows, MAITA emerges from the record somewhat bruised but considerably closer to her original objective: wanting without guilt.

Under MAITA's direction, she includes multi-instrumentalists Nevada Sowle and Cooper Trail, a Moscow, Idaho-based bass and drums pair, and guitarist/producer Matthew Zeltzer.

'Best Wishes' in 2020 and 'I Just Want To Be Wild For You' in 2022 are two of the band's highly acclaimed albums. NPR Music, Flood, Billboard, Line Of Best Fit, and Spin praised MAITA for her "ability to present her innermost thoughts so intimately and adroitly that the mundane is made into captivating music."

Furthermore, the band has toured the US and Europe, secured featured slots at SXSW and Treefort, and opened for acts including Mirah, Blind Pilot, Horse Feathers, and Typhoon.
