Broadway’s 'Romeo + Juliet,' Starring Rachel Zegler, Kit Connor, Reveals Dates, Creative Team

The upcoming Broadway production of 'Romeo +Juliet,' starring 'Heartstopper' actor Kit Connor and 'West Side Story' actress Rachel Zegler, has announced its dates, venue, and creative team.

The production will start performances on Friday, Sept. 26. The official opening is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24 at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre, where it will run for a strictly limited 16-week run.

'Romeo + Juliet' is directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, with music by Grammy Award winner Jack Antonoff and movement by Tony Award winner Sonya Tayeh.

According to the producer Seaview, the production will feature scenic design by two-time 2024 Tony Award nominee Dots, costume design by Enver Chakartash, lighting design by nominee Isabella Byrd, sound design by Cody Spencer, and production stage management by Rachel Bauder.

Furthermore, 101 Productions, Ltd. will be in charge as general manager. The casting is done by Taylor Williams, CSA.

Seaview has recently unveiled a new music video for the Bleachers song 'Tiny Moves,' which features a first glimpse at Connor and Zegler as Romeo and Juliet.

The official synopsis reads: "The youth are fucked. Left to their own devices in their parents' world of violent ends, an impulsive pair of star-crossed lovers hurtle toward their inescapable fate. The intoxicating high of passion quickly descends into a brutal chaos that can only end one way."

Zegler, Antonoff, who won his third consecutive Grammy Award for Producer of the Year, and Connor will all make their Broadway debuts with the Gold fall production.

Gold said that with the presidential election in November, he felt like making a show this fall that celebrates youth and hope and unleashes the anger young people think about the world they are inheriting.

Public ticket sales will begin in May.

More information, including theatre, dates, design team, and additional casting, will be revealed at a later date.
