Breakout Nashville artist Jobi Riccio, who NPR deemed one of its Favorite New Musicians of 2023, has earned a nomination for the Americana Music Association's 2024 Americana Honors and Awards for a chance in the Emerging Artist of the Year category.
In particular, the artist received recognition for the release of her "incisive debut" (New York Times) album: "Whiplash," which arrived at the tail-end of last year.
Alongside the recent honor, Riccio also announced a handful of dates this Spring/Summer, which include a string of East Coast shows with Margo Cilker, a supporting date with Lucinda Williams in San Francisco, and finally, a debut appearance at the Bonnaroo Music Festival.
Jobi Riccio's Other Recent Performances and Honors
The newly unveiled dates follow a previously announced East Coast run with fellow Americana mainstay Brandy Clark, which she recently kicked off with stops at NYC's Gramercy Theatre and Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock.
Riccio also wrapped up a Midwest tour with The Wood Brothers last month. Consequently, last week, the artist opened for four-time Grammy winner Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit at The Astro in LA Vista.
Later this summer, the rising Americana star will also return to the Newport Folk Festival, where she received The John Prine Songwriters Fellowship Award last year.
Shortly after the arrival of her debut record "Whiplash" last September, Riccio achieved another set of milestones: a national TV debut on CBS Saturday Morning, tour invitations from Willi Carlile and Molly Tuttle, and was selected as a Luck Reunion Southwest Artist On The Rise finalist.
Her "Whiplash" album also garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, NPR Music, Stereogum, Billboard, The Tennessean, MOJO, and more. You can stream the record by clicking here or sample the tracks right below.
