Two-time Grammy-nominated artist and producer Steve Aoki has revealed his next major move: the forthcoming release of his 9th studio album, slated to arrive on June 28 with monumental artist features including Lil Jon, Ne-Yo, and others.
In a conversation with Billboard Magazine, Aoki first shared the news, saying he would return to his dancefloor-focused musical origins in the new record and expand upon the expansive thematic world and soundscape he established through his "HiROQUEST" universe.
Aoki's passion for pushing boundaries finds him exploring uncharted sonic landscapes that shine in every track he orchestrates. The same can be expected in this upcoming two-part project, the first of which is his would-be 9th studio record.
About Steve Aoki's '3 Days' Feat. Kalan.FrFr
In addition to his imminent album's announcement, Aoki also released today his new collaborative single with rising rapper and singer, Kalan Fr.Fr, entitled "3 Days."
Produced by Steve Aoki and The Stereotypes, the Grammy-winning producer collective responsible for generational bops like Justin Bieber's "Somebody to Love (feat. Usher)", Bruno Mars' "That's What I Like," and "24K Magic, the song is similarly ingrained with the earworm magic that is now synonymous with the group's work.
Specifically, "3 Days" is initially ladened with an infectious lively Afrobeats rhythm before smoothly transitioning into a relaxed hip-hop groove in the latter half, where Kalan thrives with his charming rap verses.
This new song is a preview to Aoki's 9th studio album and what sonic profiles his fans can expect to pop up, including the infectious energy and innovative sound present in the single.
The track, which is a follow-up to Aoki's collaborative single with KIDDO: "Drive," is also accompanied by an official music video shot amid the artist-producer's current Heavenly Hell Tour run, which he kicked off in March. For more touring information, click here.
It features live footage of Aoki and Kalan performing the new single live across multiple shows, including one during the March Ultra Music Festival. Additionally, the single includes a festival-season remix by Aoki.
