Today, Nashville-based artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Dex Green announces his debut album: "Imaginary War," out on June 28 through 3Sirens Music Group.
The record itself finds Green mining inspiration from his well of love and affection to the medium of visual storytelling and cinema, introducing his would-be listeners to a technicolor-soaked soundscape.
Arriving alongside the announcement of his forthcoming album is his new lead single: "It's Only the End of the World," a soulful and piano-driven track that centers around the theme of "Memento Mori," or the reminder that life is fleeting and we must cherish every precious moment.
About Dex Green's 'It's Only the End of the World'
Of the new single, the artist said: "Nothing in life is permanent, we are constantly evolving and changing. Our relationship with the world, our relationships with others, our relationship with ourselves ... it's all in flux."
"What else can we do but have a little sense of humor about it all? Relish in the impermanence," Dex added. This thematic focus also rears its head on how Dex musically underscored the track.
Sonically, he flexes the immense musicality he learned as a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and Grammy-nominated mixing engineer in this new atmospheric production, also putting on show his psych-pop influence that he blends subtly with drops of retro R&B here and there.

On Dex Green Creating 'Imaginary War'
The artist's colorful inclinations on his new track are also a peek at his approach on a larger EP-spanning scale, especially as the new album is effectively a solo effort - with Dex writing, recording, and producing every song.
Being heavily influenced by cinema and the visual storytelling medium, particularly that of Alain Resnais' '60s French New Wave film: "Last Year at Marienbad," Dex endeavored to have an equally strong storytelling sensibility in the new record.
Music-wise, the album draws from his affinity for synth-driven psychedelic pop, jazz, '70s R&B, and others, weaving all of them together into a mistifying production.
