Fresh off winning a Grammy, The Birdsong Project is once again leading the way in the marriage of avian conservation and performance arts alongside committed bird conservation non-profit the National Audubon Society.
Particularly, in their newly announced summer slate of event programming in Aspen with help from local organizations and featuring events at local festivals, aptly dubbed: "Aspen Summer of Birds."
The celebrations will start at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, Colorado on June 3. They will continue into the neighboring communities via far-reaching programming planned to not only entertain community members of all ages but also educate them all about the cause.
"Birds have inspired art for millennia with their multi-colored plumage, their long-distance migrations, and their birdsong. Birds also tell us that they need our help," explained Dr. Chad Wilsey, chief scientist at the National Audubon Society.
"Through the Birdsong Project we can inspire people across the western hemisphere to protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow," he continues.
'Aspen Summer of Birds' Activities and Events
Audubon Rockies and Anderson Ranch Arts Center, in particular, will be launching a collaborative workshop on June 3 to 7 entitled: "Wildlife Wonder."
Target participants are 6 to 8-year-olds, all of whom will be taught how to draw, paint, and build their favorite animals in realistic and creative forms using various artistic mediums, such as bookmaking and weaving.
Also, Audubon Rockies Community Naturalists will assist participants through a thematic exploration of birds sectioned by migration, bird song, and adaptations.
In addition to this, it will also deliver environmental education programs for all across Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming, all enacted through a partnership with the Anderson Ranch Arts Center.
The Bird Song Project and the National Audubon Society will also partner up with the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) to actualize live performance iterations of the Grammy-winning album on July 27 from 12 PM to 2 PM local time.
Students from the Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS) will arrange and perform what promises to be a dazzling afternoon performance at ACES Catto Center at Toklat.
Two in-town pop-ups will also take place by July 27 in collaboration with the AMFS, from 11 PM to 2 PM local time at the famed Aspen Saturday Market, where copies of the Grammy-winning "For the Birds" 20LP vinyl box set will be available for purchasing and viewing.
By night of the same day, between 7 PM to 9 PM local time, The Birdsong Project and Audubon will take over the plaza outside the beloved Paradise Bakery and hold a public musical performance arranged and to be performed by AMFS students.
