The "il Prete Rosso" (Red Priest) himself, Antonio Vivaldi, is set to have a silver-screen portrayal soon in a new biopic that is purportedly 20 years in the making, with Oscar-winning editor, composer, and director John Ottman at the helm.
In terms of biopics, Ottman is a prime choice given his success with 2018's "Bohemian Rhapsody," based on the legendary UK band Queen and its world-famous frontman Freddie Mercury.
Music industry executive David Franco was also revealed to be onboarded alongside Ottman in the production of the new biographical film.
What We Know About the Upcoming Antonio Vivaldi Movie
Centering around the legendary Italian violinist and composer, as written by screenwriters Kevin Lund and TJ Scott, the film has been in production pipelines for over two decades now.
Initially, American filmmaker Ron Howard was employed to direct, however, new plans discontinued his contribution. This propelled the biopic into a state of limbo, with the script getting juggled around the industry in hopes of landing in the lap of the perfect creative team.
In 2018, semblances of that happening started showing itself when Franco brought the screenplay to Ottman, with the former being convinced that the latter would be the one "destined to bring Vivaldi to life" after doing so.
Franco added to his statement that there was simply no other creative that was "more suited to craft this remarkable story."
In an interview with Variety, Ottman vaguely shared his plans with the film's musical composition, explaining, "I was supposed to also score 'Bohemian Rhapsody,' but I felt it would date the film. Instead, I used different elements from Queen's music, and it's now timeless."
He continued by saying this approach will be the same one he takes in this new undertaking.
As of now, there's no information about the cast, and will most likely not come for a while.
