Glen Powell is reportedly gearing up for his Broadway debut in a musical production that he and "Scream Queens" co-creator Ryan Murphy are currently working on. It has been over 8 years since the actor and director's last collaboration, with it being the 2015 horror series, in which Powell starred as "Chad Radwell."
According to an interview with Vogue, Powell said that he and Murphy are "actually making a musical together," saying, "We don't really have any plans to be back in the television world together, but we'll be on Broadway together."
When asked whether or not the musical will be an adaptation of "Scream Queens," the actor said that it would be "the funniest idea," musing the thought of a "Chad Radwell Musical."
Powell continued by expressing his shock and appreciation for people's recognition of his and Murphy's 2015 work, which according to him, is something he is known for more than anything else under his belt. "Maybe it ages like a fine wine," he adds.
"Scream Queens" was originally the brainchild between Murphy and his American director contemporaries, Ian Brennan and Brad Falchuk. It aired on Fox for a total of two seasons from September 2015 until December of the following year.
Glen Powell's Upcoming Work on the 'Twisters' Film
In the interview, the actor also talked about a movie that had just finished shooting, which was a spiritual successor to the 1996 film "Twister." He told the magazine that "it's definitely not a reboot," adding that this project was narratively different from the original and is going off its own story.
Powell continued by explaining that even though the original 1996 movie itself wasn't under the mainstream "spotlight" in recent years, people routinely talk about it with him, saying how the movie was one of their favorites in their younger years.
According to the actor, this relatability reminded him of Tom Cruise's advice to him during his time working on "Top Gun," with his co-actor saying, "If you want to make movies of a certain size and scope and scale, you have to figure out what can connect with everyone around the world in every territory."
For Powell, this "humans versus weather" narrative conflict is a "very universal idea" and that humans are effectively "powerless" against these kinds of "cataclysmic forces." This movie, dubbed "Twisters," is reportedly releasing next year and is directed by Lee Isaac Chung.
