D’Angelo Russell Apologizes for Recording Nick Young's Confession of Cheating on Iggy Azalea

D’Angelo Russell finally broke his silence on Wednesday, March 30 in a Lakers press conference after he outed his friend and teammate Nick Young by recording a video of Iggy Azalea's fiance confessing that he cheated on the "Black Widow" rapper.

“I feel as sick as possible,” Russell said about the video, which leaked last week. “I’ve been asked that question 110 times and my answer, my feelings stay the same. I wish I could make things better right away, but I can’t.”

However, the athlete has been trying to correct his mistake with his friend. “I reached out to [Nick], let him know my apologies. I don’t know if they were accepted. I wouldn’t blame him.”

Russell takes full responsibility for creating this fiasco, but says he’s unaware how the video became public.

“No. It wasn’t my intention," he explained. "We joked around, played around all the time, said crazy things and this just got in the wrong hands. It wasn’t a prank. It wasn’t something for everyone else to see. It was for my eyes, his eyes only. That was it.”

Russell says he must rebuild the Los Angeles Lakers’ trust in him after what he did to his teammate.

“Listen, man, I know that it will take some time to regain trust and confidence,” he told The Vertical. “I hope they know I would never intentionally hurt someone – and know how horrible I feel.”

Young sent and deleted a tweet not long after Russell issued a public apology for recording the controversial video, and it seems to indicate he didn’t accept the apology yet.
