Singer Amy Grant will be celebrating Brevard Music Center's 80th anniversary with a June 25th concert at their Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium in Brevard, North Carolina. The upcoming production promises to showcase an exhilarating appearance from the platinum-selling "Queen of Christian Pop." According to the Center's President, Mark Weinstein, this performance marks the start of an new era for the music center:
"This concert launches an exciting new decade in Brevard Music Center's history. We are thrilled that Amy Grant will not only grace our WPA stage for the first time, but will also bring a truly 'spectacular' production to Brevard audiences in celebration of our acoustically-enhanced stage and 80th anniversary season. Don't miss it!"
Tennesseean Amy Grant has a long and varied music career. With roots in the contemporary Christian music scene, she rose to mainstream stardom as a pop artist with 1991's Heart in Motion album. That album alone cemented the star's crossover status, earning Grant four Top Ten hits (including the No. 1 hit single, "Baby Baby") and eventually becoming one of the best-selling Christian music albums ever released. Her multiple albums over the past 30 years, including many beloved Christmas collections, have sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.
For Mrs. Grant, who is married to country musician Vince Gill, it's not all about the spotlight. Amy's inspiration remains faith and family, not fame. In a recent interview with Quad City Times, Grant recounted her feelings towards the power of music and its relation to her spirituality -- not that she demands any certain interpretation from her fans:
"A lot of my songs are about faith, but it's not a jersey uniform. I just try to move people with my music, no matter what it's about. I hope my music is a positive thing, it's something that fills up your tank."
For those not in the immediate area, Grant will be touring nationwide this spring, performing with World Vision's 'Live Life Together' tour from April 14th-April 30th. The tour stops in multiple cities across the U.S. and features fellow inspirational music singers Nichole Nordeman and Ellie Holcomb.
