A new video shows Vince Gill having a few words for the Westboro Baptist Church. The country star confronted the protester before his show Sunday at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City. The organization known for their highly controversial "God Hates" signs are now targeting Vince's wife, Christian musician Amy Grant.
The Westboro Baptist Church, not to be confused with any other actual Church ever, is nothing more then a hate group. The organization is infamous for protesting anything and everything, including funerals of soldiers and gays. They are armed at every rally with a video camera and a variation of their "God Hates" signs.
The cameras are used for "protection purposes," in case they are assaulted...but they also come in handy when they want to go home and relive all their greatest hits of hate. It was one of these cameras that captured an exchange between members and country music star Vince Gill this past weekend.
Gill approached the protester before a concert on Sunday to "see what hate looks like." Vince was under-fire by the group for divorcing ex-wife Janis Oliver and his remarriage to Christian singer Amy Grant.
The protester was quick to point out that Jesus condemned his actions, referring to Luke 16:18
Jesus says:
"Every one who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband and commits adultery."
Vince fired back:
"You know what else he said? He said a lot of stuff about forgiveness, about grace. You guys don't have any of that."
Vince also warned the group that they were "lucky" that they didn't have any signs about his wife. Vince even called out the founders of the church, the Phelps family, by name--referring to the group protesting him as the "C-Team"'
