Selena Gomez defended her BFF Taylor Swift when she was asked about Kanye West's new song "Famous" which he wrote mentioning Calvin Harris' girlfriend. In a new radio interview, the "Same Old Love" singer shared her thoughts regarding Kim Kardashian husband's diss track.
The 23-year-old singer and actress was a guest at the SiriusXM Hits 1 radio show on February 12 and she took the opportunity to say something about West's new song that he unveiled during his Yeezy season 3 show.
The lyrics directly points towards the 26-year-old singer-songwriter. West raps "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why, I made that b***h famous / God damn / I made that b***h famous."
Gomez came to Swift's defense revealing that Swift didn't need West to be popular because, "She's [Swift] killing it and she kind of always has been," she said.
"Everybody has their own opinion," Gomez shared. "At the end of the day, you can just do what you do."
Even with the nasty lyrics, West assured the fans that Swift herself approved of the song and she gave him her "blessing." He even went on to explain that he used "b***h" not as an attack to the "Shake It Off" singer but as an "endearing" term instead.
Swift's rep denied West's claims that the songstress approved of the song. According to an E! News source, "Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, 'I made that b***h famous.'"
It seems like Swift just doesn't have the time to deal with West's diss song because she's too busy preparing for the 2016 Grammys.
"Grammys night is Taylor's night. She's going to win and be featured in the start of the show," a source told HollywoodLife exclusively. "She wants the Grammys to be about her and her achievements, not Kanye West."
