Rumors first flew that Selena Gomez and Niall Horan were hooking up when they were spotted having fun together and enjoying a carnival ride at Santa Monica Pier back in December. Even though they apparently enjoyed each other's company, it seems like their friendship didn't extend to a more serious relationship. Now a source is calling it a "drunk hookup" and says Selena ended it.

“The reason why everything cooled was because Selena didn’t want to take anything further," the source revealed to HollywoodLife. "Niall really was happy when they hooked up but now realizes it was a drunk hookup night that didn’t do anything more because Selena didn’t want it.”
The 22-year-old 1D member reportedly wanted to take things to the next level with the "Same Old Love" singer but realized that they both had to want a relationship for that to happen. Although he is unhappy that things didn't work out for them, he's still glad that they're friends.
“He would have liked it to have been something but now that time has passed he realizes a relationship with Selena will never happen," the source continued. "And being her friend is an OK landing spot. He is not heartbroken, just disappointed that it never had the chance to be more.”
Gomez, who is constantly rumored to be getting back with ex Justin Bieber, recently tried to put those rumors to rest in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, saying she was "so beyond done." More recently, she was spotted holding hands with Samuel Krost after dinner even though a source told ET that she was still single.
