Wheelhouse Theater Presents Bloody New ‘Caesar’ with Mock Donald Trump Campaign

New York City is about to get a bloody new production of Julius Caesar. The Wheelhouse Theater Company presents a new run of the Shakespeare classic this March under the direction of Jeff Wise. The show is being promoted as a mock presidential campaign with a slogan that mirrors Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again.”

Director Jeff Wise opened up about the new production and how it reflects the world we live in:

“There’s an immediate reaction to some of the themes that emerge from this play, such as ‘violence begets violence’, the differences in public and private persona in the political spectrum, power in politics as well as the unintended consequences resulting from hubris. And of course, one cannot think of the Roman Empire without also thinking of its ultimate and iconic demise, which is starting to look a lot like our country right now.”
