In a mazing bit of good luck for Wu Man, the release of Kung Fu Panda 3 and its official soundtrack coincides perfects with the world famous pipa player's current North American Tour. While Jack Back's comedy antics have kids laughing in the local Cineplex, the well-respected Chinese composer will be entertaining their parents at the city's Performing Arts Center.
As part of a tour that takes them from Portland, Maine to Cornell, New York, Wu Man and the Shanghai Quartet present "A Night in Ancient and New China," a program showcasing the extraordinary range of Chinese folk and contemporary music.
Sure to boost ticket sales, Man is also featured prominently in the soundtrack for Jack Black's latest animated film, Kung Fu Panda 3, which is currently in theatres all over the U.S.
In a recent behind the scenes interview for the film and accompanying soundtrack, Man explained what it was about the Kung Fu Panda franchise that she loved most:
"I love the sort of all combination...the tradition -- of course it shows a lot of chinses traditions [like] martial arts and music and a lot of lifestyle -- but also there is kind of the American sense of humor there.
"So to me, that is just amazing."
