Grease Live’s already impressive rating has gotten even higher. The show initial earned a whopping 12.2 million viewers. Now the event has now jumped up to 14.6 with DVR, Video on Demand, Hulu Plus and Fox on Demand viewing added in.
Compared to NBC’s live musical event Grease comes in second behind NBC’s pioneer production of The Sound of Music Live which brought in an massive 18.62 million viewers. That number jumped up to 21.84 million with DVR added in.
The Wiz Live takes in the bronze (or the Rubio) with 11.5 million. The production recently won two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding TV-Movie, Miniseries or Dramatic Special and Outstanding Actor in a TV-Movie, Miniseries or Dramatic Special (David Alan Grier).
Peter Pan Live finishes last with 9.21 million, which is still pretty impressive.
It should be noted that Grease Live aired on Sunday night with all of NBC’s events airing on Thursday.
Fox’s has two more musical projects already in the works for 2016. The Passion the Musical, hosted and narrated by Tyler Perry will air live from New Orleans on March 20, 2016 8-10 PM.
This fall Fox takes a great big jump to the left and a step to the right with The Rocky Horror Show Live. The cast for the Fox Rocky Horror Show cast includes: Victoria Justice as Janet Weiss, Ryan McCartan as Brad Majors, Adam Lambert as Eddie, Staz Nair as Rocky Reeve Carney as Riff Raff, Annaleigh Ashford as Columbia, Ben Vereen as Dr. Scott. Laverne Cox as Frank N Furter and Original West End/Broadway/Picture Show Frank N Furter actor Tim Curry as The Criminologist.
