Director John Carpenter Announces New Album & Tour Dates

After more than 40-years of directing movies, John Carpenter surprised fans and critics alike when he released his first ever album of non-soundtrack material, Lost Themes, back in 2014. Now for another first -- the Hollywood icon is announcing his first ever world tour behind the release of his second record, Lost Themes II. While Carpenter brought both his son, Cody Carpenter, and his godson, Daniel Davies, back for the sequel, this time around the boys were able to come together all at once in the studio, instead of exchanging bit and pieces of songs over the Internet for years.

Proving that he is always evolving as an artist and entertainer, 68-year-old John Carpenter has just released some dates for his first ever world tour along with news of a second album set to hit stores April 15.

While the first album took quite some time to put together, given everyone's busy schedules, Sacred Bones' recent press release reveals that this time Carpenter, his son Cody and godson Daniel Davies, were able to get together in person to record, Lost Themes II:

"Unlike their first album, when they often worked over the internet exchanging themes over the course of several years, this time all three brought in sketches and worked together in the same city, a luxury they weren't afforded on the first Lost Themes."

For those dedicated fans ready to rock out to Carpenter's brooding synth in person, the legendary director has announced a few tour dates for the summer and fall of this year (via Paste):

June

2-4 -- Barcelona, Spain at the Primavera Festival

July

1-3 -- ásbrú, Iceland at ATP Iceland

October

28 -- Manchester, UK at Albert Hall

29 -- Manchester, UK at Albert Hall

31 -- London, UK at The Troxy

Although not mentioned in in his initial announcement, Carpenter also revelaed that there would be at least one U.S. date via Twitter.
