One Million Moms Group Protest TV Show 'Lucifer' and The Olive Garden

Who knew that Lucifer and The Olive Garden were equal perils to your soul? The right wing group, One Million Moms is still protesting the new Fox show, Lucifer, but now they've added a new target they feel you should protest at all costs. What's the connection, you ask? Apparently, The Olive Garden committed the egregious sin of choosing to advertise during the premier episode of Lucifer. Now people are instructed to call their local restaurant and complain. You are not supposed to complain about those things that you already knew made The Olive Garden evil, like the unlimited soup and salad and all those carbs. People are supposed to complain about the peril of damnation their soul may be undergoing because the restaurant chose to advertise on a new Fox TV show about Satan.

Quoting directly from the OneMillionMoms website brings a little bit of light into what the group's objection with the show is. They find the basic depiction of Lucifer Morningstar as he is named in the show to be sympathetic and caring. The character also is viewed as likeable and cool in the television show. Apparently, this group more appropriately views the devil as a snarky guy who lives in Los Angeles, drives a vintage car and helps an LAPD detective solve crime. The TV show is loosely based on Neil Gaiman's comic book series Sandman. The Olive Garden is evil because they had spots that ran during the show, so it stands to reason they support Satan. Neither suspension of disbelief or a basic sense of humour seem to be in this group's arsenal.

The One Million Moms group has launched numerous memorable campaigns against the entertainment industry in the past. According to Care2, they have protested a Christmas episode of Glee. They also found the Macy's float too kinky one year for having Broadway cast members do a song. The one subject that really seems to ring their bell is any positive portrayal of lesbians or gays. One Million Moms tried to have Fox ban Lucifer, but the network showed no interest. Now they seem to be going after anyone who advertises on a show of which they don't approve.
