Originally, this looked like an amazing matchup. An elite passing offense taking on the top pass defense in the NFL, but that doesn't appear to be the case any longer.
Yes, the Broncos still have an amazing defense, especially against the pass. However, the Steelers have taken massive tolls before this game due to injury.
Both DeAngelo Williams and Antonio Brown have been ruled out for this game. Ultimately, that's going to have a major impact on the offense, especially through the air. The Steelers will be down to their third-string running back and will be without their top wideout, a receiver who ranks among the NFL's best.
On top of all that, veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is dealing with multiple issues, including a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder. Things couldn't be looking much dimmer for Pittsburgh at the moment.
The only chance the Steelers have is if the Broncos shoot themselves in the foot. Nobody knows how good or bad Peyton Manning will look in this one. He played horrible to start the year and was benched for the young Brock Osweiler. While the fourth-year man wasn't terrible, he wasn't as good as Manning when No. 18 looks like himself. The question is, is Manning healthy enough and will he be effective? If he isn't, he could have a shorter leash than you'd expect a legend like him to have.
Whether it is Manning or Osweiler who finished the game, you have to like the Broncos chances purely based upon Pittsburgh's woes.
Prediction: Broncos 24, Steelers 16
