Tim Curry is going home, back to the place that made him a cult icon. The former Frank N Furter actor who originated the role in London, on Broadway and in the film, is returning to the Rocky Horror Show as The Narrator in Fox’s upcoming live production. Orange is the New Black star, and real life transgender actress Laverne Cox will be stepping into Frank’s famous high heels.
The announcement was made on Friday at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour. Curry commented on his new role in Rockyverse, saying (Via The Hollywood Reporter):
“I am very happy and excited to be a part of this new event.”
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Tim Curry’s role in the new Live musical special will be off-screen. However, we have not been able to confirm that at this time.
Curry suffered a stroke in 2012 leaving him in a wheelchair. Curry was honored with a lifetime achievement award at the 2015 Tony Awards.
The cast for the Fox Rocky Horror Show includes: Victoria Justice as Janet Weiss, Ryan McCartan as Brad Majors, Staz Nair as Rocky Reeve Carney as Riff Raff, Adam Levine as Eddie, Tim Curry as The Narrator and Laverne Cox tops the bill as Frank N Furter.
