In a dramatic plot twist, former 'Power Rangers' Star, Ricardo Medina Jr., has been charged with murder after stabbing his roommate to death with a sword. Looks like someone took their role too seriously.
Medina has been charged with one count of murder for the killing of his roommate, Josh Sutter, on January 31, 2015 in the house the two men shared after an argument over a woman believed to be Medina's girlfriend. The weapon of choice, a replica medieval sword. Medina was arrested following the incident, but later released after the authorities determined to look more closely into the matter to see if it was self-defense or not.
Inquisitr says "The argument became heated, reaching the point where Medina and his girlfriend took shelter in his bedroom. It wasn't long before Sutter reportedly forced his way through the door and Medina stabbed him in the abdomen with a medieval style sword that he kept in the room."
Evidently it may not have been, as Ricardo Medina has been charged, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office has arraigned him on the alleged murder. The prosecution is requesting that the judge set the bail at $1 million. According to The Wrap, "If convicted, Medina faces up to 26 years in prison."
Medina starred in two different iterations of Power Rangers, playing "Cole Evans on "Power Rangers Wild Force" for 39 episodes in 2002. He went on to play Deker in 24 episodes of "Power Rangers Samurai" between 2011 and 2012.
Medina isn't the first star of the show to have murderous problems. Uproxx claims that "Skylar Julius Deleon once appeared on the original version of the Power Rangers, and is now on Death Row for the murder of a couple out at sea."
It is more than a bit ironic that an iconic children's show has had not one, but two actors who ended up killing people. The fact that Medina killed someone with a sword is morbidly humorous, if only for the fact that he used a sword in the show.
