When the very, very first 'Deadpool' trailer came out, even before the movie was officially announced, fans everywhere hoped, prayed, etc. that the movie would allow more of the Merc with a Mouth's signature profanity and violence. Guess what? 'R' wishes came true.
Terrible puns aside, Deadpool has officially received an R-rating due to "strong violence and language throughout, sexual content and graphic nudity." If the trailers released so far are any indication, that may be a very mild description of what's coming to theaters everywhere February 12th, 2016. Looks like I know what my plans for Valentine's Day will be!
According to Screen Rant, "The film's R rating ensures that it will be filled with a little more vulgarity, violence and all around adult themes than most mainstream superhero movies." Which, of course, is exactly what everyone expects from Deadpool. Hopefully we'll see some sort of video clip where Deadpool references the movie's rating.
At the very least, "It looks like the wishes of fans have been answered, FOX is going hard in the paint with fart jokes, gore jokes, violence jokes and lots of jokes that involve genitalia of all sorts." And if you haven't seen the Tweet already, the marketing department has done yet another fantastic, Deadpool-ian job of advertising.
So long as the trailers don't show all the cool stuff from the movie, Deadpool is going to be a whopping success. It's rare (less so now than formerly, thank you Disney) that a comic book hero movie seems to be sticking so close to the character's roots, but Deadpool looks like it will do Deadpool justice.
