It's the very oldest story in film. Someone's film does well and someone's film is a disapointment .This time it is Shah Rukh Khan admitting that his film Dilwale is a 'personal disapointment' to him because it failed to do well at the box office. He was asked about this by reporters at a recent event and according to Bollywoodlife replied, "I don't think that the film has done as well as it should.I am personally disappointed with that. To be honest, it has perhaps not done as well in India as I would like it to do. But overseas it has done very well in a lot of countries like Germany, Austria. It is quite thrilling that Indian filmsbare reaching far and wide. There are a lot of business opportunities."
Dilwale had stiff competion for box office dollars and attention this past Christmas season. Its main competion was the costume drama Bajirao Mastani. Long a pet project of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film had a star-studded cast which included Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and People's Choice Award winner Priyanka Chopra. Dilwale was the highly anticipated reunion of Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and director director Rohit Shetty. In 1995, the trio made the classic Dilwale Dilhania Le Jayenge. The new Dilwale wasn't a sequel to the first movie but it was one of the most anticipated films of 2015. The two films went head to head after opening on the 18th of December but Dilwale faded over the holiday season.
On a side note, SRK was asked about Bajirao Mastani's star Priyanka Chopra international success and her recent People's Choice awards. His comments come to us via Filmibeat, "What happens with these achievements is Indian cinema is introduced in places where it needs to be introduced. It opens gates for actors and actresses to look it. I am very happy making the films that I do. I have made it clear many time earlier, I don't think I will foray into it."
