Donald Trump is at it again, turning on a long-time ally of the United States in his latest rhetoric. The British Parliament votes January 18th to determine whether or not Trump will be banned from their country, and the Trump organization has threatened to withdraw all investments from the UK.
This is merely another step in a long line of controversy generated by Donald Trump during his presidential campaign. It's getting to the point where it's not inconceivable that an America under Trump would do a flip on allies and enemies. With Trump cozying up to Russia and Putin as well as issuing threats towards Great Britain, who knows what's next?
In statement by Trump organization's executive vice president, George Sorial, Trump's stance on the issue is made clear.
"Westminster would create a dangerous precedent and send a terrible message to the world that the United Kingdom opposes free speech and has no interest in attracting inward investment. This would also alienate the many millions of United States citizens who wholeheartedly support Mr. Trump and have made him the forerunner by far in the 2016 presidential election."
The vote is being called as the result of a petition to ban Donald Trump from the UK which garnered "more than 560,000 signatures." Another petition, requesting Trump not be banned, has acquired about 40,000 signatures.
According to Fox News, "Trump's company has also warned that any official action taken against him 'would force The Trump Organization to immediately end these and all future investments we are currently contemplating in the United Kingdom.'"
