Looking for enlightened people? Yeah, you're probably not going to find them in India, either. Sad as that is to say. The Goonj India Index 2015 reports that Aamir Khan is the most disliked Bollywood actor, coming in just behind two extremist Indian politicians. Recently, Khan came under fire for comments about intolerance in India. Khan, of Muslim faith, was being interviewed and spoke about the growing friction taking place in Indian society based solely on a person's faith. Naturally, people jumped to extreme conclusions.
The Goonj Labs track are a summation of types of mentions on the internet. To quote them directly,
"Goonj uses patent-pending algorithms to scan millions of pages on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, blogs and online forums to quantify the total volume of buzz and conversations based on your business requirement.
This data is then classified according to 20 different parameters such as total volume of buzz, the consistency of the conversations, the responsiveness and volume of buzz, the quality and sentiment of these conversations and indicators of influence scores.
These 20 parameters are given weights to accurately reflect the relative influence of a specific channel using channel volume data tempered with factors calculated by experts at Goonj. Using this 2 phase process, we derive business intelligence insights that you can actually use."
As such, Khan appears on the list. Khan's comments, though they were framed in a more intellectual content than many of the responses, including the multitude of ones that rained down from the political leaders of India. From the Website One India comes remarks from BJP Party MA, "Now, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stooped to a new low while criticising Kiran Rao. BJP MLA from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, shocked everyone with his statement on Mrs Khan. The MLA, while slamming Kiran Rao, was quoted as saying, '"Perhaps Aamir's wife Kiran Rao wants to be strip-searched in an airport in America."'
On top of that, Khan's sponsorships have started to bolt from the actor as well. Incredible India has announced that it has removed Aamir as it's brand ambassador. Guess India just wants to go about proving his point over and over again.
