‘Star Wars Force Awakens’ Director JJ Abrams Talks Cut Constable Zuvio

Spoiler Alert: If you have been down the toy aisle of your local big box lately, than you have likely ran into a few Star Wars toys. Among the various toys you will find many Force Awakens action figures like Kylo Rens and Star Wars: Rebels character like Kanan Jarrus, you will also find someone named Constable Zuvio. However, just who Constable Zuvio is has been a bit of a mystery. Now, director J.J. Abrams is shedding some light on why the character was cut from the film after the toy was released.

Constable Zuvio was a member of law enforcement on the planet Jakku. However, his presence was one of the many things cut from the film.

Recently, J.J. Abrams spoke to Entertainment Weekly about having to trim some of the fat from The Force Awakens, stating:

“As much as you try to kick the tires and write and shoot only what is necessary -- no one wants to waste anyone’s time -- when you’re in the editing room you realize, for instance, that introducing the character there actually diminishes their power. Or, giving that information actually distracts you from what you should be concentrating on. Or, having that moment happen concurrent with that moment actually gets in the way of both -- things like that.”

What do you think of the film? Do you think J.J. made the right call? Let us know your thought in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
