Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier featured a kiss between Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. However, their relationship will be a lot different in the new film Captain America 3: Civil War. The film co-writer and director Joe Russo opened up about Cap and Widow’s dynamic. This comes after Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner made some sexist remarks about Widow regarding her many relationships.
Joe Russo recently spoke to reporter in Beijing, China about Captain America and The Black Widow’s relationship in Civil War (via Comicbookmovie)”
"They do care very deeply for each other, I think, as much as any two characters in Avengers do. And I think you'll see that [platonic dynamic] again in Civil War. I think two of the most endearing scenes in the film are between Steve and Natasha. And of course, that relationship will carry forward into Infinity War. They have a real respect for each other, but they're very different and they admire the differences in each other, and they find a commonality those differences."
Earlier in the year Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner made a few off color remarks about their Avengers co-star Scarlett Johansson’s character Black Widow regarding her relationships with Hawkeye, Cap and the Hulk with
Renner telling Digital Spy, “She’s a slut.”
Chris Evans started laughing, adding “a complete whore.”
Later Evans and Renner released a statement to Entertainment Weekly, with Evans appologizing:
“Yesterday we were asked about the rumors that Black Widow wanted to be in a relationship with both Hawkeye and Captain America. We answered in a very juvenile and offensive way that rightfully angered some fans. I regret it and sincerely apologize.”
