In Review: New Data Shows 'The Man in the High Castle' is Amazon Prime's Most Popular Series

Amazon Prime's alternative history series, The Man in the High Castle, is the site's most popular show, passing 'Bosch' as the most streamed series on Amazon Prime. With both critic and viewer reviews both giving it high ratings, it took only a month for The Man in the High Castle to become Amazon's #1 show.

And for those who enjoyed the show, yes, The Man in the High Castle has been renewed for a second season on Amazon Prime. According to Forbes, the show, "based on the 1962 novel of the same title by Philip K. Dick imagining a post-World War II America after an Axis victory over the Allies, took just four weeks to surpass the viewership record set by Amazon crime drama Bosch." This really comes as no surprise as the show is very well done, and Nazis are fun to hate, and when you combine the two, you get a recipe for success unlike any other.

What's far more surprising than the success of the show is the fact that Amazon actually released information on the viewer data at all. "Amazon made waves over the weekend when it formally released a statement on the streaming giant's viewer data (albeit in the most general and vague capacity possible)" says a Uproxx reporter. Nothing specific has been published, as streaming sites like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime all tend to be very guarded about revealing the information. And it's no wonder. Regular broadcast networks are constantly fighting over audiences, and considering normal broadcast viewer data is easier to come by, the websites are closely guarding any secrets they have that add to their success.
In fact, "until this point, it's been rare for the company to comment on the performance of its Prime Video original series, even in a relative sense." Evidently the success of The Man in the High Castle is good enough to warrant comment.

Hopefully the show can live up to the fans' expectations. It will be curious to see where it goes in the future, and we can only hope that Frank Spotnitz, Ridley Scott, and the rest can keep The Man in the High Castle as interesting in the future as it has been in the past.
