Riddick Returns: Vin Diesel Announces Fourth Movie 'Furia' and TV Series 'Merc City'

It's been a few years since Vin Diesel rocked the big screen as infamous criminal Riddick, but on Friday Diesel announced that a fourth movie called 'Furia' and a TV Series named 'Merc City' were in the works.

I had the odd fortune of seeing The Chronicles of Riddick before any of the other movies staring our delightfully damaged anti-hero, and I enjoyed it. Not as much as Pitch Black or Riddick which I saw later, but I still enjoyed the movie. With the announcement of Furia, I hope we fans of the series get to enjoy the continuing adventures of Riddick. Hopefully Furia won't be a prequel.

And not only do we have Furia coming, we also get to delve into the inner workings of the lesser characters, the mercenaries and bounty hunters who chase criminals like Riddick across the galaxy. Kind of like a more evil version of Guardians of the Galaxy.

According to the official Instagram post, "Last night Our company had a party to launch Our TV division. Very exciting. MERC CITY is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe.Next Month, DT begins writing the next Chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick... FURIA.#HappyFurianFriday"

"The 'DT' Diesel mentions refers to David Twohy, the writer and director of all three Riddick films," according to Mashable.

It may not be as big a series as Star Wars or Star Trek, but the Riddick universe takes up a niche neither of those two universes really delve into. Riddick lives in a much nastier, dirtier and darker world than either of those two, and it's truly enjoyable to explore that world.

So what are your hopes for this new foray into the Riddick universe? Tell us in the comments section below!
