Following the release of her "Bad Blood" music video earlier this year, Taylor Swift has been known as much for her high profile celebrity girl squad as her hits songs, but some feminist view the elite group as hurting the cause of women as a whole. According to the latest gossip news updates, Calvin Harris girlfriend has taken Camille Paglia remarks about her being a "Nazi Barbie" to heart and plans to put a permanent halt of her bringing friends -- like Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid -- and stage in the future.
While many of her fans have long viewed Taylor Swift as the ultimate feminist given her penchant for including her celebrity gal pals in almost everything she does, hardnosed Camille Paglia begs to differ.
In a scathing opinion piece published by the Hollywood Reporter that 68-year old social critic put Taylor's girl squad on blast for being far more exclusionary than inspiring (via Daily Mail):
"In our wide-open modern era of independent careers, girl squads can help women advance if they avoid presenting a silly, regressive public image -- as in the tittering, tongues-out mugging of Swift's bear-hugging posse.
"Swift herself should retire that obnoxious Nazi Barbie routine of wheeling out friends and celebrities as performance props."
As a result of the embarrassing article Taylor is said to be rethinking her entire approach to furthering her feminist goals through running the greatest girl squad in Hollywood history.
One source in in the latest December 28, issue of Star magazine claims that a concerned Taylor is going to be changing the way things are done from now on to appease Paglia and her likeminded critics:
"For someone of Camille's stature to go after her really upset Taylor.
"Taylor considers herself a feminist, and that's part of the reason she loves the attention that her girl squad gets...[but] she may try to tone down the 'bring all your friends on stage' think and just focus on the music and fans."
What do you think of Taylor Swift's elite girl squad?
Is it fair to compare her group of friends to Nazi's?
Or, did Camille Paglia hit the nail right on the head when she called out Swift and her sycophants?
