PS4 Boss Talks Third-Party Exclusives ‘Star Wars Battlefront,’ ‘COD’ Over First-Party Games

Xbox has its Chiefs Master (Halo) and Nintendo has its Brothers Mario. Both of which have become household names over the years, identifiable by gamers and non-gamers alike. However, PlayStation’s Drakes Uncharted and their…..um…...Wars Godded? What are some other good PlayStation exclusive titles? We know there have to be some, but that is just the problem. PlayStation isn’t really known for its first-party titles. Sure they exist and are generally well received, but none really seem to stick out as well as the competitions. That hasn’t seem to effect sales of the system though. Sony found early success with the PS4, costing less at launch, and has kept sales going with exclusive content for third-party titles like Star Wars Battlefront and Call of Duty. Now, one of Sony’s bigwigs is opening up about the company’s third-party based marketing steady going into the 2015 holiday shopping season.

Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia, Michael Ephraim recently spoke to Gamespot about Sony’s emphasis on third-party titles over first-party games:

“Games that have been released this year, from Destiny, Call of Duty, Star Wars -- most of them we have a collaboration with for additional content if you play on PlayStation 4, so we’re pretty confident with the way Christmas is going. The demand is strong… We have worked very closely with third parties this year because our first party lineup was not as a strong as we would have liked."
