Last year, Taylor Swift wrapped up her most successful performance circuit to date: the >1989 World Tour. But Ms. Swift is not immune to pre-concert anxiety, she says. The 26-year-old singer admits that she had nerves before performances in which she worried that she may not have an audience to play for.
This coming from the most famous star on the planet, currently.
She continued, ''I have nightmares where nobody shows up and nobody wants to see me perform at all. I would just cry. I would just sit on the stage and cry.''
Despite where her career as a singer and a most successful tour have brought, she still combats self-doubt. It is because of the fans, though, that she is able to overcome anxieties that often inflict themselves on entertainers and performers, esepcially ones with such palpable popularity.
According to Swift, ''My friends and I talk about this all the time; just being in our twenties, you don't know what it's going to be like when you wake up. Not every day is perfect. It's not always sunshine in my brain and sometimes I just wake up with a bad attitude. But I hear people screaming and a switch flips and I'm excited.''
The "Bad Blood" hit-maker has her very own 'Taylor Squad' composed of other renowned artists and famous celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Karlie Kross, Cara Delevingne, Blake Lively, Lorde and the Haim sisters. Since the singer didn't really have many best friends growing up, this made her value the essence of each friendship, especially for the type of industry she is in.
In an Interview with Zane Lowe of Apple's Beats 1 Music: ''It was hard to foster friendships when I was young and I think that's why friendships are such a huge part of my life now."
In short: it must be hard being Taylor Swift.
Taylor also added: ''Nowadays, when I meet someone at an event or something and we hit it off, we keep in touch, and over time all of us ended up being a group that love each other and support each other.''
One of her most light-hearted friends is Este Haim--otherwise known as the bass player and one of the sisters in the Haim outfit--who she feels is the most uninhibited.
And as anyone who's seen a video or read an article from her world tour, Ms. Swift loves having her friends take the stage with her. In her eyes, it gives a sense of security, and also she feels its her duty to be kind of her friends (as well as her fans).
So with the tour at a close, it's unclear what the New Year will hold for Taylor Swift but all bets are on another successful year of pop stardom. Hopefully the follow-up to 2015's 1989 smash will be another historic album for her generation.
