K-Pop Star Psy's new 'Daddy' Video: It's a Chauvinistic Horror Show [REVIEW]

Korean Pop star Psy has released a new music video that may actually give his first hit, "Gangnam Style" a run for its money. The new song, "Daddy" is equally up beat and the video may be even weirder than the K-pop star's first big hit, "Gangnam Style." The more I review these videos, the more I have to wonder if people actually enjoy them or if they just can't quite bring themselves to look away. This latest video is little more than a chauvisnistic horror show.

Wired explains what is going on in the video on a basic level, "CL of girl group 2NE1 would like to know 'Hey, where'd you get that body from?' The answer is, naturally, 'I got it from my daddy.'"

To say the least, the whole thing is pretty insane.

"Daddy" starts with a birth scene in which Psy's face is superimposed over the baby's and quickly fast forwards to the child going to elementary school where all the wee lasses moon over him. He shoots the young school girls "dead," presumably with his hot body and they excitedly wait in line for mini-Psy to pour curry over their food as though it were the greatest privilege in the world. Even the school teacher is hot and bothered by him, which considering the age difference, is more than a little creepy.

As Today points out, Psy obviously thinks very highly of himself, "In the high-energy video, Psy is clearly the star, with his face superimposed on just about every male body in the clip!" It isn't just a boy who represents him in the "Daddy" video, but what can only be assumed to be the boy's father and his grandfather as well, both of whom are just as much womanizers as the supposed wee lad is.

It is all really quite chauvinistic in the most disturbingly amusing ways possible, and I think that is the only reason Psy is able to get away with it. "Gangnam Style" was weird, but this goes a step further into the Twilight Zone than even that video did. Though, I am not sure many people will see it that way because it is what the world has come to expect from the K-pop star.

Psy's "Daddy" music video already boasts well over 12 million views, but surely there are others who feel like it is more a bad horror show you just can't quite seem to turn away from than it is a music video. But then with that many people clamoring to watch it, maybe I am the only one. Be sure to let us know in comments if you like the new video or if you agree with me that it is just not quite right.

For those of you who just can't quite remember what all of the "Gangham Style" hype was about or if for some inexplicable reason you just can't get enough of it, the video is below.
