‘Captain America 3: Civil War’ Spoilers, Will General Ross Become Red Hulk? [TRAILER]

Spoiler Alert: The new Captain America 3: Civil War trailer was released earlier this week and it has given us a whole lot to be thankful for. The plot revolves around Captain America (Chris Evans) and a few of his fellow Avengers going rouge after the government tries to force all superhumans to register and be regulated. This is where General Ross (William Hurt) comes in. The longtime Hulk antagonist and military strategist has worked his way up the political ladder and has moved on from p*ssing the Hulk off and become a thorn in Cap’s side. Could Ross’ involvement in the new movie mean we might see Red Hulk in the future?

The Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, recently spoke to Empire Online where they revealed a lot of new information about the upcoming film. Earlier in the year we learned that William Hurt is reprising his role of General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross from the 2008 Hulk remake. Joe Russo gave Empire the scope on what Ross’ role will be like in Civil War:

“We thought it would be interesting to take a character who had a fanatical anti-superhero point of view. Now he’s become much savvier and more political and has put himself in a position of power, not unlike a Colin Powell. He’s cornering the Avengers politically now, he’s out-manoeuvring them.”

Speaking further on the political side of the film, Russo explained just why the film had to head in that direction:

“You cannot have a character called Captain America without examining the politics of what that means, especially in this day and age.The heroes in this universe operate under their own auspices, not under the directive of a government, and that can cause a lot of problems. There’s a certain level of imperialism that we’re examining -- what right do those that have power have to use that power, even if it’s to do good? How do you govern that kind of power?”

In the comics General Ross becomes the Red Hulk who is first an enemy of the Green Hulk, but later becomes an ally. Red evently becomes a member of the Avengers. Could Captain America 3 somehow set this into motion?

What do you think? Would you like to see Red Hulk appear in the MCU? Would you like to see Red Hulk as the villain in another standalone Hulk movie? Let us know your thoughts on the subject in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
