Jimmy Kimmel certainly delivered after touting on Twitter the surprise he had in store for his November 24th episode. The show featured guest stars of Marvel movie fame, Christopher Evans and Robert Downey Jr., who will be starring in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War as Captain America and Iron Man, respectively. Not only did the duo reveal the first official Marvel movie poster on Jimmy Kimmel Live, but they also shared with fans the first publicly released movie trailer.
The two-minute long debut is an action packed spectacle that mostly centers around a feud between the two superheroes inspired by the government's desire to disband the Avengers. The patriotic Paladin and the billionaire playboy go toe to toe letting off some intense steam and giving us something to look forward to.
Captain America and Iron Man are not the only protagonists featured in the trailer. Black widow, Winter Soldier, Falcon and Black Panther, the Avenger's newest villain basher, all make appearances, brief though they may be. If Stark's "So was I." line doesn't get you right in the feels, you probably aren't a Marvel fan.
After showing the trailer, Fallon came back to his guests to talk about filming the movie. Evans thought filming in Atlanta was a "hot, sticky" endeavor, but Downey didn't seem to mind it one bit. "I was either in a lovely sprawling rented home, or an air-conditioned helicopter. I mean I saw you on the tarmac doing action," Downey apparently doesn't have to be there once the helmet closes and Tony Stark's face cannot be seen.
The official Captain America: Civil War movie poster is also a brilliant bit of eye candy showing off the two superheroes, overlaid on the Captain America's shield engaged in a heated staring contest that almost has them touching noses. You can almost feel the animosity.
Analysts have predicted Civil War to be a blockbuster powerhouse that will bring in huge numbers. After it was uploaded onto YouTube, the trailer garnered over 100,000 views in only a half hour. As this article is being written, the trailer is presently sitting at nearly 650,000 views. If this is any indication of how well it will do in theaters when it is released on May 6th, those analysts may actually know what they are talking about.
This isn't the first time Jimmy Kimmel Live has gotten the Disney treatment. Just last week his guests included cast members from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
