Tonight, Fox’s hit Batman origin series, Gotham is all new with the second to last episode of 2015. Leading into next week’s fall finale, all out war breaks out in Gotham City. Gordon is up against a freed Galavan, while the mysterious monks from the Order of St. Dumas are let loose on Gotham. In the comics the Order of St. Dumas are a group linked with the origins of multiple characters named Azrael, one of which (Jean-Paul Valley) briefly took up the mantle of The Batman during the Knightfall storyline.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s penultimate fall episode of Gotham, titled "Rise of the Villains: The Son of Gotham", reads:
“Gordon deals with a suspect linked to Galavan; and Bruce comes closer to identifying who killed his parents.”
Tonight’s new episode we see Gotham under siege by the mysterious Order of St. Dumas. Recently, Tabitha actress Jessica Lucas spoke to IGN about the Order and how it ties into her and Galavan’s plan:
“I don't know about that or what sort of stories they could be drawing from in the comics, but it's all tied into Galavan's plan and the Order of St. Dumas and the larger scheme. It's all part of his plan to bring down Gotham and then rebuild it. But I don't think Tabitha's as invested in all of this as Theo is. She's usually like ‘Yeah yeah, whatever. Wake me up when there's something exciting to do.’ So I don't know that this story is anything that will continue with her beyond the next couple of episodes. Her agenda isn't always going to be tied into her brother's plan, I'll just say.”
With Azerl being a legacy character, it is not unreasonable to think that we might be seeing a version of the character on the series.
What do you think about the direction Gotham is going in? Would you like to see Azrel introduced to the series? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page?
Be sure to tune into the all new episode of Gotham tonight at 8:00 p.m. eastern on Fox.
