J.J. Abrams has one hell of a resume, but it is about to get a little bit more Epic. The Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens director is teaming up with ChAIR Entertainment (Infinity Blade 3), a subsidiary of Epic Games (Gears of War) to work on all new video game. The collaboration between ChAIR and Abrams production team Bad Robot, titled SPYJINX, uses Epic’s famous Unreal Engine 4 and will be available for both Windows PC and mobile devices. Check the report below for details about the game.
An official ChAIR Entertainment description of SPYJINX, offers a few of the details about the new game:
“Powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4, SPYJINX features a unique mix of action-strategy gameplay, dynamic world-building and RPG character development -- all set in a thrilling, treacherous world of espionage. SPYJINX is expected for initial release on PC and mobile devices in 2016.”
In a recent interview, ChAIR co-founder Donald Mustard spoke about the partnership with Bad Robot, stating (via press release):
“Bad Robot is uniquely talented at making you deeply care about characters and the trials they experience. As game developers, we knew that if we could apply that knowledge to creating game systems that help players care about the world we build for them and then give them tools that let them shape and exercise agency in that world, then we could create something really special.”
J.J. Abrams also spoke up about the game, and the over two-year collaboration with ChAIR, adding:
"I've been a fan of video games for years, envious of the artists and storytellers who have gotten to play in that world. Over two years ago, we met with the geniuses at ChAIR in the hopes of collaborating with them. The result has been something beyond any of our expectations. Since then we have been working closely with them to create something that I cannot wait to get into the hands of gamers all over the world.”
