For all the talk about not intending to replace Patrick Dempsey's character on Grey's Anatomy, Martin Henderson admits that in all likelihood he will end up in a relationship with Ellen Pompeo on the show. According to the latest gossip news updates, Martin hates being thought of as the new McDreamy, but he knows that it will more than likely just be a matter of time before he winds up dating the man's wife. Thankfully, it seems that Dempsey's real-life wife, Jillian Fink, isn't so quick to replace him. Despite their filing for divorce over a year ago, the racecar driver and Jennifer Lawrence's makeup artist are said to be working hard at working things out.
He does his best to dance around it, but deep down it seems that Martin Henderson knows that he is destined to walk in Patrick Dempsey's footsteps on Grey's Anatomy.
During a recent chat with TV Line, Martin did his best to explain how he wasn't the new McDreamy, though he will more than likely soon be dating his wife:
"It would be disrespectful to the audience to suggest that my character would be a replacement.
"I see myself more as an addition to an existing show."
That being said, Henderson admitted that a betting man might want to put his money on his character hooking up with Ellen Pompeo in the very near future:
"Obviously it's a possibility...If [a Nathan-Meredith romance] happens, I know there would be some strong feelings, positive and negative."
Thankfully, Patrick Dempsey's real-life wife, Jillian Fink, isn't so quick to move on from their relationship.
Although they might have publicly split more than a year ago, the former Grey's Anatomy heartthrob and the highly acclaimed makeup artist are said to be giving their marriage another go.
One source in the latest November 30, issue of Star magazine claimed that Julian had taken issue with Patrick's putting his career as a racecar driver ahead of his family:
"Jillian filed for divorce because she couldn't take Patrick's obsession with racing cars -- it was driving her nuts and keeping him away from their three children.
"She wanted him to act like a grown-up."
What do you think about Patrick Dempsey being killed off just to have Martin Henderson seemingly take his place?
Should Shonda Rhimes have left Derek Shepherd alive to keep the fans happy?
Or, was it nice to have the status quo shaken up on a show that has been running for well over a decade?
